MCQUEENS STYLE: EASTER WREATHS

Versatile, long-lasting and dynamic – it’s no wonder creating these seasonal wreaths is one of McQueens Flower Schools’ most popular classes. From adorning your front door to a focal point on your spring table, a wreath’s versatility means it’s the perfect arrangement to welcome a new season or celebrate a special occasion. With Easter merely days away, we share some eggsellent design ideas...

Foraged

One of our favourite elements about wreath design is the breadth of materials that can be used - often found on your own doorstop (if you don’t have an outdoor space to forage, the natural look also relies on a less uniform shape.) Some of our favourite ingredients are often hiding in gardens, these include hebe, senecio and plenty of herbs, especially rosemary! For a spring touch, broom adds a splash of colour whilst washed muscari bulbs finish the foraged look perfectly.

Block Colour

Make a bold impact by using materials of all one colour, or go one step further and use just one type of flower. Yellow is the ultimate spring hue, with countless floral varieties available in the sunshine shade. Think texture too – just about to disappear but worth a mention is fluffy mimosa, while forsythia is an equally dynamic option. Catch them while you can.

Spring Flowers

Celebrate with the season’s blooms. Change up a wreath base by adorning fresh flowers throughout the spring. A recent contemporary design by McQueens Flower School included tulips in shades of peach and pink – as their petals gently open, it takes on a whole new guise.

Easter Additions

Take inspiration from a design created on the recent McQueens Flower School Spring Wreath Workshop. A rustic-style wreath was enhanced with a festive twist with the addition of some lovely intricate, decorative eggs. Easily sourced from craft and sundries shops, simply wire and thread the eggs to the base. The perfect addition for an Easter lunch setting.
